Tourek, Dream Chaser Win March Meet Title

Posted by on Mar 9, 2015 in News

Dream Chaser and Hughes Performance customer Tom Tourek successfully navigated his way through a stiff 32 car B/Gas field of the NHRA Heritage Series this weekend at the famed Bakersfield March Meet. The second generation racer out of Surprise, Arizona started the week by qualifying seventh with an 8.620 at 155.61 mph on the 8.60 heads-up index in the nostalgia drag racing series. While competing in only the eleventh race of his career, Tourek was able to capture the coveted Wally with five consecutive round wins. Fighting his way through the field, Tourek took out B/Gas mainstays Doug Carter and Vic Miller before taking down 2014 March Meet champion and NHRA Super Comp racer Cliff Boyles in the final. The door-handle to door-handle final round was decided by less than a tire on a double break-out effort with Tourek running an 8.592 to Boyles’ 8.577. Congratulations on the win at Bakersfield’s Famoso Raceway and good luck as you chase the points championship! Click here to watch CPTV’s 2015 March Meet...

Polvadore Wins with New Sponsor

Posted by on Feb 23, 2015 in News

There are those moments in drag racing that can make any racer question his sanity. Then there are those moments like Bernie Polvadore had this past weekend at the CarQuest Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona. Having recently secured a marketing partnership with 3 Amigos Tequila, Polvadore and his new teammates, son Seth and veteran racer Scott Rollins, were looking to make a statement. Their mission was successfully accomplished as the elder Polvadore was able to secure his first NHRA national event win. Fighting his way through seven rounds of competition, Polvadore and his ’93 Pontiac Grand Prix took down five time champion Brad Pierce in the finals. Polvadore had an immediate advantage by cutting a near perfect 0.004 light as compared to Pierce’s 0.019. At the stripe, the two Super Gas competitors were separated by a mere 0.0056 seconds, or approximately fourteen inches. All of us here at Dream Chaser Racing would like to congratulate Bernie on his victory. In addition, we would like to thank 3 Amigos Tequila for their support and...

Weber, Berry & Dream Chaser Excel at IHRA Nitro Jam

Posted by on Feb 7, 2015 in News

Building on an already strong 2015 season for Dream Chaser Racing Engines, Brian Weber and Jim Berry had terrific showings at the IHRA season opening Good Vibrations Southwestern Nationals. Competing in Tucson, Arizona, Weber wheeled his ’86 Hughes Performance Camaro to a victory in Stock Eliminator. The veteran racer from Black Diamond, Washington was able to take out Tempe, Arizona’s Mike Graham in the final round to bring home the coveted Iron Man. Berry was able to run through his competition right up to the final round of eliminations where he met up with Tucson’s own Chuck Hawk, Jr. Running in the ultra competition Quick Rod class, Berry was a bit too quick at the hit and turned on the red light handing the victory to Hawk. Dream Chaser would like to wish both competitors continued success through the remainder of the 2015...

Polvadores Make Their Mark at Toyota Nationals

Posted by on Nov 2, 2014 in News

Powered by Dream Chaser Racing Engines, Seth Polvadore and his father Bernie just missed an historic national event double up at the NHRA Toyota Nationals. Seth, continuing to drive the Dream Chaser/Hughes Performance ’89 I/SA Camaro, successfully wheeled his way to the semi-finals where he was defeated by event champion Joe Sorensen of Woodburn, Oregon. With 102 cars entered in Stock Eliminator, the younger Polvadore continued to leverage excellent reaction times and consistently ran within .02 of his dial. Bernie, running his ’93 Grand Prix in Super Gas, successfully ran his way through a 49 car field and straight into the finals of the Toyota Nationals. Unfortunately for the elder Polvadore, Super Gas star Tommy Phillips was able to gain a .022 advantage at the starting line and carry the lead through the stripe. Both Seth and Bernie will once again be competing at the Las Vegas NHRA divisional race next weekend, November...

Steen a Hit in National Event Debut

Posted by on Sep 21, 2014 in News

Dream Chaser customer and Super Comp racer Michael Steen made his national event debut during the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals. Having previously completed fewer than ten full passes in his young career, the initial goal was simply to gain valuable experience on the big stage. As the weekend progressed, however, Steen and Dream Chaser shifted their focus to going rounds and the possibility of bringing home a Wally as a National Event Class Champion. In round one, Steen turned on the win light with an impressive 8.912 on the 8.90 class index. With the first round behind him, Steen made some subtle adjustments and then proceeded to turn on his second win light of the day when he defeated Dough Miller. On day two of eliminations, Steen picked up right where he left off the previous evening. Taking on fellow Texan Rustin Mayse, Steen cut a .012 light and laid down an elapsed time of 8.908. Steen’s 8.920 total package forced Mayse to break out with an 8.879. In the fourth round, Steen and Jeff Lopez left the starting line with near identical reaction times. Heading down track, the two remained wheel to wheel for the full 1,320 with the race ultimately ending in a double breakout. With Lopez running a quicker 8.859 to Steen’s 8.867, Lopez was forced to put his dragster on the trailer. With the original field of 97 having been reduced to the top six competitors, Steen met up with Alan Savage of Mexia, Texas in the fifth round of competition. For the first time during the event, Steen found himself leaving the starting line second. Although Savage only left the line .010 ahead of Steen, it proved to be too much at the big end of the track. Savage crossed the stripe with a spectacular 8.901 elapsed time and Steen broke out, running a slightly too quick 8.884 at 181.25 MPH. Although the weekend did not conclude with a Wally in hand, it is safe to say that it was a tremendous success. Everyone at Dream Chaser would like to congratulate Michael and his entire team, we know there is much more success to...
